Transcribing the 1842 Rent Book is quite challenging. The quality of the photography even though is good, is not the best. The resolution is not very high. Moreover, the book itself is not well preserved. There are stains on the pages. Also, is difficult to read some characters as the writing is a bit calligraphic and there are overlapping writings. Also is this one page with two folios? Or two separate pages? I chose to transcribe it as one page, mentioning the folio separation. Moreover, which lines denote a column? Is the Arrears of Rent & Rent charge column, for instance, one column? or three different ones? Some characters are between lines, thus how do you transcribe them and where? In which line? How do you denote erased characters? Further transcription guidelines should be provided.
